I am from Kailua, Hawaiʻi, and am currently entering my third year as a Music Education student at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa. I have marched two years of drum corps, one with The Academy in 2024 and the other with the Blue Knights in 2025. Outside of drum corps I’ve marched 4 years of highschool marching band and 3 with the Rainbow Warrior Marching Band. I currently serve as one of the trumpet section leaders within the Rainbow Warrior Marching Band. On the teaching side, I’ve had the opportunity to work with multiple high school programs across Oʻahu, including Kailua High School, McKinley High School, Roosevelt High School, and Radford High School. In addition, I’ve taught trumpet privately for the past two years. When structuring lessons, I like to balance fundamentals with application. I typically begin with a warm-up that focuses on tone, breathing, and articulation, followed by exercises targeting technique and flexibility. From there, I connect those fundamentals to the music at hand, whether it’s ensemble literature, marching band music, or solo repertoire. I also believe in setting clear goals for each lesson and encouraging reflection—helping students understand not just what to practice, but why it matters in their long-term growth.
